8 Months Old

It’s not fair, time is flying by way too fast and it seems every time I blink she is a month older. Everyone told me to cherish every moment because they grow so fast and I never really understood until now. Her personality is developing more and more everyday and it is becoming increasingly harder to drop her off at daycare. I feel like I am missing out on so much, thankfully I can watch her during the day so that helps ease the pain a little. Now when I pick her up from daycare she bounces up and down with this huge smile on her face and says hi mom (not really, its more like gibberish talk, but if I talked gibberish that’s what it would translate to). She is just so stinking cute and so incredibly happy. We have been blessed with such a happy, easy going baby and I am so grateful.

8 month highlights:

* Still no crawling, but we are working on it. She obviously has her mother’s stubbornness, we try bribing her with stuff to crawl and she looks at us like we are crazy.

* According to our last visit, she only has about 2 – 3 weeks left in the helmet. I can’t wait to not have hard plastic in the way of kissing her sweet cheeks.

* Weight is 18lbs and some change (Dad does not remember from her visit on Tuesday……….men)

* Length we don’t know for sure but I can tell you she is long.

* She has just started clapping and is so proud of herself.

* She talks and babbles a ton of course her favorite word is dadadadada!

Girls just wanna have fun!!!!!!

Tomorrow night is our annual girl Christmas party and this year we are shaking things up. Instead of bringing our favorite dish to whoever is hosting we are going out to dinner and then over to Erica’s house to do the gift exchange. Oh and dinner happens to be at a restaurant I have been dying to try, Piranhas. If you know me you know I love sushi, yeah I know it still puzzles people with all my weird food aversions, but I LOVE, love, love sushi. Luckily all my girlfriends share my passion except for Tawna, but she is a trooper and always comes along and just tries to find a non fish dinner option. Erica promises there is non fish options and let’s hope so or Tawna might be having a liquid dinner. J Speaking of Tawna and her dislike for sushi we made her try some when we were in Mexico (yeah weird place I know, but it was surprisingly good) and oh how I wish I could have videotaped her reaction. I thought she was going to hurl at the table, but she held it together. Anyways I am sure there will be lots of laughter and good times had by all, I am sure I will have pictures to share, but for now here is some pictures from last year. Last years theme was tacky Christmas sweater, and while it was fun I was also 4.5 months pregnant.

Sick and tired

So sickness has invaded our house for the past two weeks and I am finally getting over a serious sinus infection. It all started the Wednesday before Thanksgiving when we found out Sophia had double ear infections and croup. She was on breathing treatments for 8 days, 4 times a day....... yeah that was easy. Then the Saturday following Thanksgiving I started feeling yucky and then it progressively became worse. Of course Eric was only sick for like a day.... yeah not cool. Not that I wish sickness on him, but it is just no fair. :) Of course during all of this Sophia is also teething and looks to be cutting her eye tooth any day now. My perfect sleeper is no longer sleeping through the night and is waking a few times. I just keep telling myself this too shall pass and I will get more than 5 hours of sleep someday.

Christmas Photos

Now that the Christmas cards are in the mail, I can finally post our wonderful pictures by the ever talented Mike and ReJana of Bludoor Studios. We are always so pleased with the pictures they take and once again they did not disappoint. Sophia absolutely loved Santa (this is the same Santa from last years pictures where he had his ear up to my belly) and he was excited to meet her.
Hope you guys enjoy!

Thankful

This year has been one of the hardest ever for me, but God blessed us with the most amazing gift and I thank him every day for that precious girl. As cheesy as it sounds I can be having the darkest of days but once I see that smiley face all the worries go away. So on this Thanksgiving, Eric and I give thanks for the wonderful jobs we have, a place to call home, amazing family and wonderful friends who are our family too. We love you all and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Caw.....Caw

This is for Aunt Kate! Sophia says I love my mean green t-shirt and drooling all over it (that is how I show my love, I only drool on my cool clothes).

Jump, jump, jumperoo

Sophia loves and I mean LOVES her Jumperoo and she really goes to town in the thing. Good thing she has the helmet to protect her pretty wittle noggin.

Last night she jumped so much she passed out! Poor baby girl was tired!

Weekend Rundown

The weekend started off with a bang, I won my office tickets to the Mavs game (4 rows from the floor) and we had a blast with Chad and Kate. The Mavs won and my favorite player made his signature jet move which made me one happy camper. When we picked up Sophia from Aunt Jackie's that night she said Sophia had been coughing, well come Saturday morning it was BAD. The urgent care center did not open until 11am and we arrived shortly after opening and there was already a long wait. Over three hours later, a RSV test and chest x-rays........ Sophia has a right ear infection and bad cold. The rest of Saturday and Sunday we spent chilling at home. Me bored at home = Christmas decorations up and one clean casa. Sophia loves the lights on the tree and just stares in awe. Here it is Monday and I am still at home with Sophia, the cough is better, but still too bad to take her to daycare. I am praying she will be better by tomorrow!

Update - 7 Months

So with all that has been going on I have not posted her 7 month picture (really it is 7.5 months, but shhh don't tell Fia) or any kind of update.

So here are some highlights~

*The child is long, like wearing 12 month pants kind of long (poor girl they kind of sag though since they don't fit in the waist). Not sure why I am surprised though with her having Eric and myself as parents.

* We have 1 tooth completely in and this morning we noticed the other bottom tooth has made its appearance. Because of these wonderful teeth we have one fussy, drooling like mad baby girl.

* She is trying so hard to get up on all fours, she will stretch her arms out and attempt at pulling her knees under her ........but just not at the same time. In between this rotation of arms and knees yoga like moves she likes to throw in a little airplane action to shake things up. It really is quite hi-larious to watch.

* She LOVES Gracie and belts out the most precious giggle when she sees Gracie run by or jump or basically do anything.

* Her adjustment to Room 2 at the daycare has been tough, but she is getting better and better. With the older babies comes a lot more noise and she is having trouble napping. She is like her momma and just doesn't want to miss any of the action.

* 6 weeks down with the helmet, and the results thus far are amazing. Next Wednesday she is being re-scanned to see number wise how she is coming along. I am hoping and praying she will not have to wear for the full 3 months since she has made such remarkable progress.

I think this about sums up what is going on in Sophia world! Daddy returned home last night from a business trip and she was sure happy to see him. Oh and I guess I was too...... I keed I keed! Love you babe!

I came home last week to my very own surprise 30th party!

Blah

This past week has been a real crummy one and one that I am glad is finally over. Yesterday was a sad day at my company as we had to lay off 12 wonderful employees. I know this may not seem like many to some, but in my small, tight company of 26 this was HUGE. It was very emotional having to say goodbye to everyone, but especially to two close friends of mine. They will both be greatly missed and I can't wait to meet up with them for dinner and drinks soon.

It's my birfday, it's my birfday.... gonna party like it's by birfday

So the dreaded 30th birthday is here and really it isn't so bad. It really is just another number, but I am sad to leave behind my 20's, those were some awesome years. No big plans, since Mexico was my gift and big celebration, so I think it will just be a chill evening with my two favorite people!

Back to the grind

Man returning to work yesterday was hard, but thank goodness Eric and I both took Monday off to get things back in order. Mexico was fabulous and we had such a blast. We do wish the weather had been a little better, but we made the best of it and did not let it get us down. There was countless laughs and many, many memories made. I can't wait until the next vacation with my favorite peeps! Thanks guys for making my 30th birthday so memorable, I love you all!

I'm leaving on a jet plane

In about 24 hours we will be landing in beautiful Mexico! Oh how I can't wait to walk the beach and feel the sand between my toes, oh and enjoy a nice frosty beverage. First though I have several things to pick up (why must I run out of all my expensive beauty products at once, gah) get a pedi and then spend time with my baby girl...... thank goodness I am leaving work early today! I will miss Sophia terribly but I know it will be good for all of us if mom and dad have a little me time. Plus she is in excellent hands and will have a blast with Loli and Pops!
Eric and I finished most of the packing last night, of course tonight we have to strategically arrange which items go in which suitcase since I am always teetering the 50lb bag weight limit. I really try not to over pack but I can't help it, I just know that if I leave something behind I will wish I had it with me. It's the shoes that do me in, I know I packed at least 5 or 6 pairs...... I know what you are thinking......but you just never know.

P.S. I am sure I will have lots of pictures to post when we return, now we just have to make sure Kate does not take any of the photos or else we will never see them (though I am impressed that she posted the Halloween pictures.... that was huge, and I mean huge :)

Sad day

So we received word last week that the time has come for Sophia to move to the Infant 2 room. I am so sad not just because of the thought of how quickly she is growing but because this means leaving her current teachers Miss Shamon and Ms. Jan. I know I should be over joyed because this means she has met all the milestones in order to move up but I love her current teachers and they love Sophia. They have taken such great care of her and we will definitely miss them. The worst part is Ms. Jan has been on vacation the past 2 weeks and Sophia will have moved by the time she returns :(

Boolicious!

So we survived our crazy weekend and had a blast in the process! Friday night we chilled in our driveway passing out candy, I seriously can't wait until we can take Sophia around door to door. Saturday we had pictures taken by Deena Riley and she did such a great job even though Sophia was being a stinker and not smiling. The child has a serious diva attitude! Here a couple sneak peeks:

After pictures I was off to a baby shower for my good friend Leslie! She looks so incredible for being 8 months pregnant (I forgot my camera)! I couldn't stay long at the shower because I had to rush home to get ready for the Halloween party of all parties! It didn't take us long and we were out the door to drop off Sophia at Nana and Papa's! The party was a blast though we called it a night a bit earlier than most, especially when the talk to turned to politics because yes we can all so clearly express our view point when we are intoxicated.

Here are some of the ladies!

Ricky and Lucy! I have some splaining to do!

Sunday we worked around the house and I did about 1081 loads of laundry! We packed up some of Sophia's things that she has outgrown like the swing, play mat, etc. and turned our used to be sitting room into her playroom. It amazes me the things I said I would never do when I became a mother and since having Sophia have completely done the opposite (yes mom I know you are saying I told you so). Her happiness is most important and I don't need a fancy sitting room that nobody ever sat in :) The room still has a long way to go, but I can tell she already enjoys it.

Chaos

I think this best describes our life right now. Seriously there is not enough hours in the day and thinking of the weekend we have ahead of us = exhausting. Saturday Sophia is having some pictures taken, then I have a baby shower, then a Halloween party that night. Sometime before the baby shower I have to find time to get to BRU. Which is a whole other rant about them not having enough locations, they are all very inconvenient for me and it is all about ME! Sunday we have nothing and I plan to keep it that way. There are loads of laundry that will need to be done oh and lots of packing. I hate to be a rushed packer and I am already experiencing some anxiety at not having started.
I don't have any new pictures to post, we seriously took zero this last weekend. So unlike us, though I don't think Sophia minds our forgetfulness.

Training for Football already???

Yes this is the phrase we have heard the most since Sophia started wearing the helmet last Wednesday. Seriously????? The child is covered in pink and people still think she is a boy!Lolli and I put as much pink and rhinestones we could on the front to make sure we don't have any further confusion. The orthotist asked that we not do too much in the beginning as far as decorating goes in case we have any issues with the helmet in these first couple of weeks. So far week 1 is over and she has adjusted amazingly well. We are so blessed to have such a easy going baby girl, she fussed the first couple times we took it on and off but now it does not even phase her. Her teachers at daycare swear they can already tell a difference, but we mainly think that is because her hair is growing in fast and furious.
Here is our happy girl in her helmet!

Happy girl!

Our little diva, her nickname at daycare!

Cathlene's Wedding

This past weekend we went to my half-sister's wedding in Lufkin and had a great time! Here are some pictures of Sophia with her crazy Great Aunts from the Godwin side who she had a blast dancing with!

Random pictures from the past couple weeks!

Here is Eric's pumpkin he carved, first time too and of course it looks awesome! I swear the guy is a born natural at almost anything (this was the same pumpkin we used with Sophia, the leg holes are in the back and are now the pumpkins booty. Did not get a good picture to post though).

Little boo buddy before daycare!

These are Eric's favorite pictures, probably because she is wearing the puma's he bought her!

We love this one, look how gangster she looks!

Gracie Poo

This is for Aunt Kate to show Gracie has not been forgotten! She has been a little worried about not seeing any pictures of her. Check out her cute bandanna from the groomers! :)
